Glorious Green

I love nature and this time of year. I love how plants shoot up from the ground and flowers burst forth on the dull, brown trees in glorious splendor. God's creation amazes and astounds me. I love how God creates something from nothing. That in itself is a fascinating mystery!

Mikayla: my life in words

Luke 7:47

A big thank you to my friend Byamba who took this photo of me. =D

I've been forgiven for much, so I have much love to give. Sometimes I don't feel like giving it, though. Those are the days when God makes me take a step back and look at all the blessings he's given me. When I realize the immensity of his faithfulness, mercy and grace in my life I'm at a loss for words. He's been so good to me despite my numerous failures.

Scavenger Hunt Sunday: April 3rd

1. High Key

I had to Google the term "high key" like several other bloggers did. As soon as I read the definition, I knew what it was. I've used high key before, but I don't use it very often. When I went to take some high key shots I looked around my room and saw Smarties sitting on my desk. A friend had given them to me earlier in the day and I decided that they'd make a good subject.

2. Bedroom

This is from my archives from spring break. Living in a dorm and sharing a tiny room with someone else, my room at school is pretty messy so I usually don't like taking photos of it. So instead of my dorm room, that's the view out of my friend's bedroom where I stayed for a week in March.

3. Something Tiny

There are countless tiny things in this world that could be photographed, but when I started thinking about what to shoot, my mind went blank. I walked around outside and followed this bird around for a little while before I got this shot of him sitting along the edge of the lake.

4. Off in the Distance

The long boarder guys are pretty hard to see. They're a ways down the bike trail. My friend Byamba and I went for a walk yesterday morning since he's leaving tomorrow and won't be back until August, and while we were stopped for a photo shoot, these dudes scooted by, waving and greeting us as they went (I know two of them and Byamba knows one of them). Looked like they were having a great time.

5. Stripes

My prayer notebook and a couple of other books are stacked up on my desk. Actually, lots of things are piled up on my desk. The dorm room is just so tiny. The prayer journal's the one on top, with the blue and green stripes. It's very special to me because in 9th grade when the girls in my class got a new Bible study leader, she gave us each one of these. She was our Bible study leader for most of the rest of our high school years, and it was wonderful getting to know her better.
