12 Things in 2012

I've learned some things in these first two months of 2012. Let me share...

1. That God's love for me is wider and deeper than I'll ever understand while I'm on this earth. I've only gotten a glimpse of it, and that little glimpse is overwhelming.

2. That it is possible to have 65 degree weather in Ohio in February.

3. That it is easy to forget Scripture and the truth found therein; and that is why it is vital to read and meditate on God's word every day.

4. That using Manual mode provides so much more creative freedom than the Aperture Value or Time Value modes ever could. Yes, I just made the full switch to Manual during the month of February. I'm slow.

5. That I have become much more vocal this year, and according to the Myers-Brigg Personality test, I'm now an extrovert, whereas two years ago when I took the test, I was an introvert. Isn't it funny how people's personalities change over time?

6. “Most good things have been said far too many times and just need to be lived.” ― Shane Claiborne That this statement is very true.

7. That relationships are so much more important than things. Giving of my time, resources, and abilities to help others draw nearer to God is the best thing I can do.

8. That Facebook, Twitter, Google +, and any other social media sites imaginable cannot replace spending time  in person with people. Social media is superficial; people are real.

9. That going without desserts is not too difficult. I get enough sweet stuff every day from my glass of iced coffee and bowl of granola.

10. That switching up the place where I do homework makes it easier to concentrate and get more work done faster.

11. That I need to love God more fully...with ALL of my heart, ALL of my soul, ALL of my mind and ALL of my strength (Mark 12:30).

12. That to succeed, preparation is needed. If I'm not ready for what's ahead, I'm probably going to fail. So...I better get ready! As Malcolm Gladwell concluded, “In fact, researchers have settled on what they believe is the magic number for true expertise: ten thousand hours.”
